These are our top 5 hints to help you not only survive a job interview, but smash it!
- Dress to impress.
Not every interview requires a full suit, and once you have researched the company you should have some idea of what is appropriate. Always dress smart, even if it is a casual position. Make sure your clothes are clean, neat, and wrinkle free. Move your hair away from your face, and wear minimal make-up.
- Know your audience.
Research the company before the interview so you know what to expect and can prepare answers regarding your skills and experience to fit with the role you will have at the company.
- Practice your answers.
Practice makes perfect. Knowing what you are going to say to common interview questions can really take the pressure off in the moment and ensure that your answers say what you want them to.
- Stay cool, calm, and collected.
It can be hard not to let your nerves get the better of you in an interview. Take a few deep breaths before going in and take your time answering questions, it is ok to pause and think about them before you respond.
- Ask questions.
Asking questions about what to expect from the work place will show that you are a serious candidate who wants to ensure that they are the best fit for the role. Questions such as: “What kind of hours can I expect?” and “Would I have someone supervising me?” are perfectly acceptable.
